Russian forces on the Ukrainian front now receive these drones. The Izhevsk Unmanned Systems LLC plant, part of the Kalashnikov Group, has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities. In 2024, production rates of KYB loitering munitions will increase radically.

These drones can destroy armored vehicles deep within enemy territory.Kalashnikov has upgraded the original KYB model.

They also introduced a new version with greater range and destructive power, named KYB UBB.Since 2022, the KUB family of kamikaze drones has been marketed in an export version (KYB-E).

They measure 1.21 meters in length, have a wingspan of 95 centimeters, and a height of 16.5 centimeters. As a result, these dimensions make them compact and, according to Kalashnikov, unique in size and weight compared to similar options. These drones can carry a 3-kilogram explosive payload.

This allows them to attack armored vehicles, specific infrastructure, moderately protected targets, and personnel positions.Kalashnikov Boosts Kamikaze Drone Production Tenfold Amid Ukraine ConflictThe KYB’s propulsion configuration includes a rear-mounted propeller.

This design makes them stealthy in flight.Their electric propulsion allows for flights up to 30 minutes, reaching speeds of 130 km/h.

They can hit targets up to 60 km from the launch point. These loitering munitions have proven effective in Ukraine.

The RIA Novosti news agency confirmed their impact in April 2024.The KYB drones were first showcased publicly at the IDEX 2019 exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

This exhibition brought them international attention.Kalashnikov’s significant production increase of these drones highlights the escalating arms race within the Ukraine conflict. It underscores the strategic importance of advanced weaponry in modern warfare.
