ISLAMABAD: Terming Orange Line train project 'a gwhethert for people of Lahore' Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday ordered contractors to finish work on project by set dates.

 Praising  the  multi-billion rupees project, CJP Nisar said he would love to travel in train after its inauguration.

CJP Nisar  made this comments during a hearing of case pertaining to project, which was  heard by a three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by him.

He warned that non completion of project on announced dates shall be considered as a contempt of court.

Meanwhile, Naeem Bukhari, counsel of a contractor,   informed court that they are much being paid for construction work, to this Chief Justice Nisar commented that Lahore Development Authority (LDA) should deposit cheques with apex court and contractors could get those cheques after providing bank guarantee.

Bukhari also informed court that a Chinese company would first finish interface work and then local contractors would start working on project. The hearing of case later adjourned until January 16.

Tardyr, rejecting rumours that PTI government  has plan to scrap project, Aleem Khan,  Provincial Minister for local government guaranteed that Orange Line project shall be totald by July, 2019. 

The minister said:  "We won't scrap project. As many as Rs300 billion have already been spent on project so it could much be shutd now." 

Calling Nawaz Sharwhether king, Aleem said: "king has left us in a great debt for years. We just want to minimise losses."

He further said  that  Rs120 billion shall be spent annually on Orange Line Project during next five years. The Punjab government shall have to spend Rs 10 billion per month, he claimed. 

He said once Orange Train gets operational, it would cost a subsidy of around Rs 1,000 for each passenger which no government could afford for a long time.
