Pakistan’s civil-military leadership condemns attack on Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan have strongly condemned the gun attack on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal in Narowal.

While condemning the attack on Interior Minister, Pakistan's civil and military leadership prayed for his early recovery.

Prime Minister sought immediate report from the Inspector General of Punjab Police on the matter.

In a statement issued by President House, Mamnoon hussain said that any attempt to create chaos and violence in the country would be trampled, adding that the difference opinion should not be expressed through violent means.

As per Maj-Gen Asif Ghaffor's tweet, COAS condemned firing on Federal Interior Minister and expressed  best wishes for his early recovery.

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan has also condemned the attack on Ahsan Iqbal.

Ahsah Iqbal narrowly escaped after he was shot at during a corner meeting in Kanjrur town of Narowal from a very close range.

According to family and doctors, Ahsan Iqbal's condition is stable and he has been shifted to ICU after a successful surgery.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent his official helicopter to airlift the injured minister to a medical facility in Lahore.
