RUDRAPUR: Jai Prakash (19 ), a ju-jitsu gamer from Rudrapur, was on the verge of dropping out from the Asian championship, the sports premier champion, in Thailand regardless of certifying as he could not afford to travel to Bangkok.

After his coach and the district association chief installed a post on social media requesting assistance for Prakash, whose father works as a day-to-day wager here, several homeowners of the town reacted and raised around Rs 85,000 so that the teenager might compete in the event that was held at Bangkoks Rangsit University from February 24 to 28.

Prakash not just travelled to Thailand but likewise bagged the bronze medal in the mens 56 kg weight category of the intensely-fought competition.It was a dream come to life for me.

I have been practicing ju-jitsu for several years, and winning a medal at the Asian champion was a big milestone in my profession.

I am grateful to all individuals who gave me their assistance, Prakash said.Rishi Pal Bharti, the gamers coach, said, The championship saw the participation of over 500 players from 30 countries, making it a highly competitive event.

Prakashs success is a testament to his dedication and hard work, in addition to the support he received from the community.

Prakashs dad Premchandra, who works as a construction labourer, informed TOI, I am proud of my sons achievement.

He strove to achieve success, and the support of our towns people made all the distinction.

Vinay Kumar, president of the Ju-Jitsu Association of India, said that Prakashs victory will influence more young gamers to use up the sport.

In all, six bronze medals were won by gamers from our country at the champion.

The gamers who carried out well will be participating in the 19th Asian Games to be kept in China this year, he added.
