NEW DELHI: Working past midnight, the Supreme Court's three-member collegium headed by CJI DY Chandrachud recommended the names of seven judges to the Centre on Thursday for their appointment as chief justices of high courts - among them a judge of the Allahabad HC who on appointment would be the country's lone woman CJ.The collegium of CJI Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjiv Khanna recommended the appointment of Justice Sunita Agarwal as chief justice of Gujarat, the post that fell vacant on the retirement of Justice Sonia J Gokani.Read AlsoCollegium backs Telangana, Kerala CJs for SC leg-upNEW DELHI: The SC collegium on Wednesday unanimously recommended the CJs of Telangana HC, Ujjal Bhuyan, and Kerala HC, S Venkatanarayana Bhatti, as judges of the top court, reports Dhananjay Mahapatra.
The two are 31st and 50th, respectively, on the all-India seniority list of HC judges.
TheOrissa HC likely to get new CJThe Supreme Court collegium has recommended the name of Justice Subashis Talapatra as the new chief justice of the Orissa high court.
Currently, Justice Talapatra is serving as the senior-most judge of the Orissa high court.

This was recommended in supersession of the collegium's February 9 decision for appointment of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, which has not been acted upon till date by the Centre.The collegium resolution, uploaded early Thursday on the SC website, said, "Agarwal, appointed as a Judge of Allahabad HC on November 21, 2011, is now the senior-most puisne Judge in her parent HC.
She has been functioning there since her elevation and has acquired experience of more than 11 years in dispensing justice in the largest HC in the country...
She would be the only woman Chief Justice of a HC as presently there is no woman among the CJs of the HCs."The collegium also recommended the appointment of Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, another judge of Allahabad HC, as the CJ of Bombay HC.
The post fell vacant after the recent retirement of Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka.
Justice Upadhyaya was appointed as a HC judge on November 21, 2011, the same day as Justice Agarwal.It also recommended the appointment of Justice Alok Aradhe (parent HC Madhya Pradesh and currently functioning as a judge of Karnataka HC) as CJ of Telangana.
But Justice Aradhe's appointment would be consequent to the elevation of present CJ Ujjal Bhuyan as a judge of the SC, the recommendation for which was sent to the Centre by a five-member collegium on Wednesday.
