NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday accused Mamata Banerjee of destroying West Bengal and charged the Trinamool Congress government of indulging in political violence, corruption and appeasement politics in the state.Addressing a rally in Kolkata, Amit Shah asserted that the BJPwill form government with two-third majority in the state after the 2026 assembly elections.Claiming that 212 BJP workers have been killed in the state, the Union home minister said people of the state will avenge these murders with their votes in the 2026 assembly elections.Shah also accused the Trinamool syndicate of preventing substantial amounts of money sent by PM Modi from reaching the poor people of Bengal.Home minister Amit Shah said that Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is the country's law and no one can stop its implementation.However, Banerjee has been opposing it but no one can stop its implementation.
The law remains in limbo as the central government has not yet formulated its rules, facing staunch opposition from various quarters.
Shah said that the intended beneficiaries of the law deserve citizenship rights as much as anyone else.Amit Shah was addressing the rally at the historic Esplanade, with an eye on setting the tone for the party's Lok Sabha campaign in the state.The party had won 18, its highest ever, of the state's 42 seats in 2019.
