KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index surged by 37.13 points or 1.39% on Monday, closing at 2,690.72 by the end of trading session. NEPSE index up by 11.58 points NEPSE declines by 57 points, finance sector leads losses Along with the increase in the benchmark index, the Sensitive Index which evaluates the performance of the class 'A' stocks rose by 1.53%, while the Float Index which evaluates the actively traded shares alsor saw a 1.41% increase.In sectoral performance, the Hotels and Tourism Index led the gains, jumping 3.50%.

Other notable performers included the Banking sector, up 1.90%, and the Development Bank sector, up 1.19%.

The HydroPower Index increased by 1.05%, while the Microfinance and Trading sectors rose by 1.51% and 1.46%, respectively.

The Investment sector also saw a 1.46% gain. However, some sectors experienced declines, with the Finance Index dropping 0.71% and the Manufacturing and Processing Index falling 1.29%.

Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL) notably saw a 10% decrease in its share value.The total turnover for the day stood at Rs 7.09 billion, with 15,845,449 shares traded across 305 scrips in 73,119 transactions.

This marks a significant increase compared to Sunday's turnover of Rs 6.13 billion.The total market capitalization reached Rs 4.27 trillion. .
