Authors: TheIndianSubcontinent News Agency Senators speak in one voice against attack on Ahsan IqbalISLAMABAD: Senators belonging to the ruling and opposition parties Monday strongly condemned yesterday’s assassination attempt on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and urged the nation to forge unity for exterminating the menace of extremism and terrorism.Leader of the House Raja Zafar-ul-Haq briefed the house about the health of Ahsan Iqbal, saying his condition was stable.Opposition leader Sherry Rehman strongly condemned the attack and said the whole nation was united to eliminate extremism and terrorism from the country.

She prayed for speedy recovery of Ahsan Iqbal and said “We hope to see him back in parliament soon.”Sherry also condemned the brutal use of force by Indian occupied forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

Special envoy should be appointed on Kashmir with the assignment to highlight Indian army’s atrocities against innocent Kashmiris in various world capitals, she added.PTI’s Azam Khan Swati strongly condemned attack on the interior minister saying, “I hope, Ahsan Iqbal will continue playing his role in strengthening democracy.” He said the whole nation was united to fight the elements working against the interests of the country.He also strongly condemned the Indian army’s atrocities in Occupied Kashmir.Former Senate chief Mian Raza Rabbani strongly condemning the assassination attempt on Interior Minister said Ahsan Iqbal had played key role in preparing Charter of Democracy, inked between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).He also condemned the brutality by the Indian Occupied forces on innocent Kashmiris.Senator Mushtaiq Ahmed strongly condemned assassination attempt on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and also brutal use of forces against innocent Kashmiris in the occupied valley.Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq strongly condemning assassination attempt on Interior Minister said that such elements would not be allowed to disturb law and order in the country.Senator Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini condemned murder attempt on interior minister and urged all political forces to show unity to eliminate terrorism from the country.Senator Sitara Ayaz strongly condemned assassination attempt on Interior Minister and said that National Action Plan should be implemented in true letter and spirit.Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and said it was unfortunate that the National Action Plan had not been implemented yet.Senator Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum strongly condemned attack on Interior Minister and said the reasons behind the incident should be analyzed in depth.He said some elements wanted to derail the democratic process in the country.

Politicians should set aside their political affiliations and work for the betterment of the country, he added.Senator Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi strongly condemned the attack on Ahsan Iqbal and asked the workers of the political parties to play their role for the unity of nation.Senator Rehman Malik vehemently condemned the murder attempt on Ahsan Iqbal and stressed forging unity to fight against the menace of terrorism.Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi strongly condemned assassination attempt on Ahsan Iqbal and urged the whole nation to stand against terrorism and extremism.
