The Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne dismissed the news being circulated over social media claiming that the government plans to completely shut down the country from April 10 to 15 and that the curfew would be strictly enforced preventing the supply of any food distribution and all shops would be compelled to close during this period and said that there was absolutely no truth to these rumors.

On the recommendations of the special committee appointed on the directions of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, 2,961 prisoners were released on bail. This group of prisoners were gradually releasedfrom March 17^thuntil yesterday (04).The committee was appointed based on a request made to the president by the prisoners when the state leader visited the prisons on an inspection tour.

A special meeting was held at the PresidentOffice yestarday (04) to summarise and evaluate the programmes implemented in the country to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The Covid-19 has spread throughout the world and poses a threat to all countries, including Sri Lanka. All these countries and Sri Lanka have taken many measures to control the spread of the virus and eradicate it. In Sri Lanka, many local companies and organizations have come forward to contribute monetarily and by providing other materials.
